Mcleodganj is home to the His Holiness “The 14th Dalai Lama” and is a site of Tibetan exile community with its main temple. It is said that Mcleodganj is named after Donal Mcleod, the lieutenant-governor of Punjab who started living in Mcleodganj outside the British garrison of Dharamshala as a civilian. The place got ruined after the 1905 earthquake and found its origination back when Dalai Lama arrived to establish his base here. Since then Mcleodganj has been a centre for Tibetan handcrafts, thangkas, carpets, garments, souvenirs, Buddhist culture and crafts etc. Located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Mcleodganj is the heart of Tibetan students coming here for their cultural and knowledge base.

Mcleodganj is most famous for its travelers and the number of people visiting the place in a year. The crowd has just been increasing since the because of the magnificent view of the hills and also the Dharamshala International Cricket Stadium that has the state of the art attraction in Dharamshala. A photographer’s delight and a writer’s dream place, Mcleodganj has a ton of places to explore and visit. The Dal lake being the most visited site with its green water surrounded by deodar trees.  Dal Lake is considered sacred by the people here and also has a Lord Shiva temple on its banks. The Tsuglagkhang temple also known to be having the residence of Dalai Lama is famous for its interior and the devotees who are constantly serving the temple.
